Summer Nuclear Institute at TRIUMF 2000
Experimental Techniques at ISAC


SNIT 2000 will be held at TRIUMF during the period July 10-21, 2000 and will cover several topics of interest to experimentalists at ISAC.

Four broad categories will be covered:

  1. Low energy nuclear reactions:

  2. Precision measurements:

  3. Gamma ray spectroscopy:

  4. Charged particle transport:
Details of lectures and lecturers

The format will follow that of the past SNIT institutes with three 50 minute lectures each morning for two weeks.

Assignments will be given so that accreditation of the course at local universities could be possible.

A 90 minute time slot each afternoon will be used for several purposes like assignment writing with help, student presentations (à la Physics Journal Club), questions/answers on the morning lectures, etc.

A welcoming reception will take place at 16:30 on Sunday, July 9 at TRIUMF.

There will be a banquet for all participants on Thursday, July 20.

There is no registration fee, but students are responsible for all travel, accommodation and living costs.

TRIUMF House is fully booked during SNIT 2000. 10 single rooms are available at Walter Gage Residences on the UBC Campus for $36.00 plus tax. Quote TRIUMF/SNIT when booking. Phone 604-822-1000.
