Experiments Evaluation Committees

E E C

All experimental proposals at TRIUMF are screened by an Experiments Evaluation Committee ( EEC ), a peer review board consisting of distinguished scientists from around the world.

There are three independent subcommittees:

The SAP and MS EECs convene to hear formal proposals normally twice a year (usually in mid-June and early December).
LSPEC normally convenes in January.

Each EEC advises TRIUMF's Director of its recommended priorities for the allocation of beam time and major facilities. The Director is not bound by the EEC's recommendations, but has never ignored them.

Proposals are solicited and received from individuals and groups around the world and are judged solely on the basis of scientific merit and feasibility. During their review they are assigned a priority rating that assists in the scheduling of the experiment.

The EEC proposals are best submitted in a standard format to ensure that no essential information is omitted. TRIUMF provides templates in LaTeX, MS Word and also hard copy formats (see the links below).

Deadlines for new proposals are usually around 6 weeks prior to the EEC meetings. Announcements of these meetings and the corresponding deadlines will normally accompany biannual mailings from the TRIUMF Science division to registered members of the TRIUMF Users' Group. Please pay close attention to these deadlines and leave plenty of time to prepare good proposals.

See here for full details regarding the EECs, specifically:

Completed proposals should be mailed to the head of the TRIUMF Science division, Jean-Michel Poutissou:
